Hold-Ons: Two Local Youths Test the Mundo Stoker Bars

The “Hold-Ons” are the most fun accessory for the Mundo.  These stoker bars give your passenger something to hold onto while they ride around on the back of your  Mundo.  The Hold-Ons attach to the 31.8 mm seat post of the Mundo and hold standard 25.4 mm bars.  They are available from your local Yuba Dealer or on-line for $49.00.  Dealers like the kit, too.  “I can get the stem, bar and grips from my regular suppliers, but the fact that Yuba cuts the bars and provides all the pieces is much more convenient.  And, at $49.00, its a deal for the customer, too.”, says Joe Doebele from Joe Bike in Portland.

The two youths in this video are extraordinary young mountain bikers here in Marin.  They ride some rad bikes, but today they stopped by to give the Mundo a test spin.

The Yuba Mundo Utility Bike is a practical and comfortable solution for carrying kids. For kids from 1 to 4 years of age (up to 22kg or 48lbs), we recommend strongly the use of a Child Carrier. The model of choice recommended by Yuba is the Peanut Shell, it is:

• comfortable
• provides great lateral and head protection
• easy to install
• solid and safe attachment system to the Mundo platform
• 2 seats can be attached to the Mundo platform
• CPSC and TÜV certified

The Peanut Shell is compatible with the Mundo V3.0 (21 speed or frame sets, blue, tangerine, black bikes) and with Mundo V2.0 (6 speed, 18 speed, green, orange). The width of the Mundo rear rack on those two versions is 18.1cm.

The version Mundo (single speed, 6 speed, upgrade 18speed kit, dark blue and red) are NOT compatible with the Peanut Shell, the rack is 22.5cm wide. If interested in carrying your little one on a V1.0 Mundo, we recommend the Bobike Child seat. The seat with a little tweaking can be installed, however it can’t be easily removed. Be aware that the Bobike doesn’t offer the same level of comfort and protection as the Peanut Shell does.

How to know if your Mundo is compatible with the Peanut Shell?
-> Measure the width of the rack if +/- 18.1 cm, then yes.

One size fits most (part 1), tall riders!

We have designed the Mundo Cargo Bike so riders of different height would be able to ride the bike. Hence the Mundo Cargo Bicycle can accommodate riders from 5″ to 6.5″ (or 1.50 to 2m).

Max from San Francisco is 6.6″ (2.02m) and owns a black Mundo 21 Speed v.3. He uses it to take his son to the Park, run errands or just as a way to get to point A to B.

We have compiled a few pictures of Max on Mundos with different handlebars, the regular stock handlebar and straight handlebar (blue bike here).

The new Stand Alone kickstand almost ready

New Stand Alone prototype on Mundo

The Yuba Mundo 21 speed comes standard with a very good and useful sidekickstand. However numerous yubariders and users are looking for a “wider” more stable base.
In the last few months we have been working hard a prototyping, testing  and using various kickstand prototypes. We have now finalized our latest prototype and it is going to be going to production before the end of March. We are expecting delivery of the new Stand Alone kickstand for Mundo around mid-May.
